NHS England have recently published a 64 page business plan for the next years priorities. Yet despite the Five Year Forward plan placing an emphasis on vocationally focused rehabilitation and integrated care between community and primary care, this document does not. In fact the word rehabilitation appears once in reference to the support needed for the elderly and frail.
Although there is no reference to the importance of having healthcare focused around meaningful outcomes such as work, it’s not all bad news!
The plan does make reference to the importance of mental health services and indicates that acute mental health services will be provided to support patients in the same way we support acute physical problems. So a walk in 24/7 mental health service beckons.
